We Heart Sprinkles

With all of the fine bakeries out there, one would think that our desire for the perfect cupcake would be satiated. But, like affairs of the heart, we always seem to want the one that we cannot have.

For those of us living outside of Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Dallas, our unrequited love is for Sprinkles Cupcakes. With a flagship located in Beverly Hills, the near-legendary bakery with its celebrity cult status is once again offering their XOX Cupcakes for Valentine’s Day.

The limited edition gift (available from February 8 to 17, 2008) includes a box of one dozen cupcakes in different flavors including seasonal specials chocolate marshmallow and red HOT velvet as well as their classic dark and vanilla all topped with XOX and heart decorations.

Sadly, Sprinkles only delivers by courier in their local markets but we have discovered a great solution. William Sonoma has created a special bakery set to give lovers of Sprinkles a quick and fun fix. The gift (available online for $42) includes a Crown Heart Cupcake Pan which produces six large cupcakes with impressive heart shaped tops, one 15 oz canister of Sprinkles Red Velvet Cupcake Mix, sixteen message toppers and a simple recipe for frosting.

And, while it’s no substitute for the original, we suggest that if you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.
