Green Marketplace

Guest blogger Danielle Venokur of dvGreen (who designed our recent Eco-Chic Entertaining event) braved the crowds at Go Green Expo to seek out some cool, new companies that are making a difference in the world. Here she shares her latest green discoveries.

New York’s first green expo may have come and gone, but some great resources are here to stay! For two days straight, the dvGreen booth was buzzing with traffic! Attendees waiting in line to receive the complimentary bouquets (that we designed using certified organic flowers from Organic Bouquet) had the opportunity to learn more about sustainable event planning, and to talk to Michael Dwork about his incredible VerTerra plate line, made from fallen leaves with absolutely zero glues or chemicals.

When I was finally able to escape the madness of my booth for a few minutes, I discovered a world of wonderful new resources for all the facets of my life– from non-toxic “Drano” to delicious, locally made organic chocolates. I’m not going to pretend that every booth was fashionable and fabulous, but I did spy a few companies that will help me to offer my clients cutting edge, sustainable style.

Here’s a snapshot of some of my faves:

Brelli
The perfect solution for a light drizzle during that outdoor wedding ceremony, or a downpour on your way to work. I’d agree when they say, “Totally beautiful. Absolutely unique. 100% biodegradable.”

Green Field Paper Company
By now you’ve seen, or at least heard of, paper embedded with seeds. Green Field Paper Co not only provides 100% post-consumer, plantable paper, but they can also design invites for you and print them using soy-based inks. Beautiful out of the mailbox, and out of the dirt.

Vere Chocolates
Delicious, stunning and sustainable. A great option for party favors. Did I mention delicious?

Ride Amigos
Revisiting the old-school carpool concept of our youth is genius and planet-friendly. By connecting people going the same way at the same time, Ride Amigos can help you taxi-hailing party goers reduce your CO2 output, not to mention your cab fare.

In2Green
Excellent, eco-gift options for that blooming bride or booming business. I love the gorgeous (and soft!) custom blankets made with regenerated fibers and yarns.
