The Good Life
It was nothing short of a chic patio party at the showroom of fashion brand Ports 1961 for their 2008 resort collection preview. Plastic pink flamingos and brightly hued pillows decorated their stunning roof deck for an informal fashion show and cocktail reception.
Channeling the good life of the 1950’s, Creative Director Tia Cibani designed a collection inspired by iconic television star, Lucille Ball. Models walked down a runway of green astroturf in silhouettes that ranged from picnic gingham dresses to glamorous brocade sheaths to playful capri pants and bras. The show was MC’d by famous drag queen Lypsinka who announced each look and added colorful commentary.
Guests including Ken Downing (Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus), Laird Borelli (Style.com), Joe Zee (Creative Director of Elle Magazine), Alexis Bryan (Fashion Editor of Vanity Fair), Olivia Palermo and Lucy and Euan Sykes Rellie enjoyed classic American favorites with a gourmet twist from Williamson Calvert including Deviled Quail Eggs with Smoked Paprika, Mini Burgers Royale with Pickles and Special Sauce and even bowls of spiced Chex Mix.
The Loose Marbles, a group of musicians from New Orleans clad in suspenders and bow ties, performed dandy tunes to set the mood of the event.
