A Taste of the Hamptons

It’s pretty safe to say that the Hamptons is not your average beach scene. Where else do kids sell virgin mojitos at their corner stand instead of old-fashioned lemonade? So, for the last party of the summer, it was only fitting that it was more blow-out-bash than BBQ.

On Sunday, August 30th, the Hamptons most social residents and celebrities including Katie Lee Joel, Beth Ostrosky and Hugh Grant headed to the private estate of Michael Borrico in Watermill for an afternoon of fine cuisine and polo watching.

A Taste of Polo, which was hosted by Evian, featured gourmet food stations by renowned New York restaurants including a raw bar by Four Seasons Restaurant, goat cheese tartine and organic roasted chicken by Bagatelle and crab ceviche by Montauk hotspot Surf Lodge. But, it was the Mr. Chow station that impressed guests the most with their live demonstration of noodle making by the talented Chef Yip who twisted, pounded and spun dough into the delicate strands used for their infamous Mr. Chow noodles.

Cocktail menus were just as decadent with a selection of tasty libations including the Evian Affinity with elderflower, cucumber and ginger, the Hendricks Gin Cucumber Martini and the ever-so-popular Pisco Sour by Macchu Pisco.

Later in the afternoon guests including Brittny Gastineau, Devorah Rose, Kristian Laliberte, Lisa Hoffman of Ceci New York and Jaci Reid enjoyed a polo match featuring star players Michael Borrico, Nacho Figueras, Martin Pepa, Larry Austin, Nick Manifold and Naco Taverna followed by a traditional Argentine BBQ.

One last thing, did we mention the polo field was in the backyard? Only in the Hamptons….
