Graffiti and Gin at Gen Art
For party-goers at Art Basel that identified more with graffiti art than the Gagosian, the Opening Party for the Gen Art Vanguard New Contemporary Art Fair was the place to be on Friday night. Presented by Fage Total, the cutting edge fair, held at Charcoal Studios in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District was packed with influencers including designer Todd Oldham, tennis champion Venus Williams and art enthusiasts from all over the world.
In addition to the extensive selection of art from galleries such as M Modern, Yves Laroche and Carmichael which was curated by Francesco LoCastro, there were live performances by LEBO who created a 15 ft wide original work of art and Graffiti Research Lab (comprised of duo James Powderly and Evan Roth) who invited party-goers to use their L.A.S.E.R. Tag to create static laser light graffiti on the building’s exterior.
In the VIP lounge, guests sampled mini-cups of Fage Total yoghurt with cherries and honey. Original cocktails made with fresh strawberries, pomegranate, orange peels and lavender were created by mixologist Milo Rodriguez for Bombay Sapphire who also entertained the audience with a performance of synchronized swimmers dressed in vintage swimsuits in the gallery pool.
