This modern yet feminine tablescape was designed by Vogue editor Devon Radziwell for a friend’s birthday dinner that she hosted at her loft in downtown New York.

“I fell in love with these magnificent hand-painted glass plates from the Dior boutique in Paris, and I built the rest of my table around them,” Radziwill explains in a feature for Vogue.com.

We love how the delicate and whimsical aspects of her table setting design are offset by sleek metal and glass. There is a mix of smooth and textured surfaces which play well together. Radziwell’s table includes champagne flutes from Pampaloni, silver swan centerpieces and turquoise candlesticks from Buccellati and silverware from the Conran Shop.

The silver accent pieces and translucent colored glasses are echoed in the table itself, which features a smoky glass top on metal legs made by Minotti, and paired with Lucite chairs from the MOMA Design Shop.

An invitation to the Royal Wedding may have eluded you but it doesn’t mean you can’t score a seat at a majestically designed table. Celebrity wedding planner Colin Cowie brings to life his vision for a royal table with a lavish design in the Getty Suite at The Pierre in New York. Inspired by the pale gold and olive color palette in the room, Cowie created a gold, green and white tablescape for a recent cocktail party at the hotel.

For the place settings, Cowie layered gold on top of gold for a rich and opulent look including gold chargers, glassware and flatware. The tablecloth was a silky chartreuse fabric with a decorative satin fringe along the bottom. The gold patterned Haute Couture plates and glasses were designed by Cowie himself for Lenox which he paired beautifully with gold Florentine champagne glasses from Watts London. Napkins were given the royal touch with simple jeweled decals in the shape of crowns.

A mirrored centerpiece was an easy DIY project made from a piece of mirrored plastic with brocaded fabric glued along the edge. Bardin Palomo created arrangements of green Antherium, green Fiddlenecks, Vibernum, white Water Lilies and roses which were set between gold candlelabras with white tapers.

According to Cowie, when you are designing a majestic table, you can never use too much gold as its the quickest way to bring your table from rural to royal!

Bring the look of the woods indoors with these amazing faux bois (fake wood) tablemats and coasters that are digitally printed to simulate wood grain. From a far they really resemble the real thing until you touch their smooth, sleek finish.

As with all Chilewich products, these mats and coasters are highly durable, washable and usuable in and out of the house so feel free to bring them to your next picnic or BBQ.

Available in three “finishes,” including birch, driftwood and walnut, these tabletop items by Chilewich would make a chalet-chic statement at your next dinner party. Contrast the rustic wood print with white minimalist china, modern flatware and bunches of wildflowers to complete the look.

To take this concept one step further, here’s an idea from Martha Stewart for an “edible” centerpiece that acts as a crudité platter. Housed in a galvanized metal planter, the look in industrial chic when paired with a simple fabric (or craft paper) runner and classic china and flatware.

To recreate this crudité centerpiece, fill the bottom of the planter (found at a garden supply store) with sprouts, moisten them with water, then artfully arrange a variety of vegetables including carrots, asparagus, baby tomatoes and purple and green cauliflower in tightly packed groups. Dip is presented in individual bowls so each guest may have their own.

In a modern tablescape the combination of grey and white could not be more chic. From Dwell Studios, the Gate collection of placements, napkins and runners is inspired by the ornate trellis work of European gardens. The graphics are elegant yet playful at the same time. A few simple stems in a white bud vase from Jonathan Adler and some vintage silverware would easily complete this look.

Made of a linen and cotton blend, the Dwell Studio sets include four placemats for $96 and matching napkins for $64.
